Canarian Slalom Championships

From the 13th -14th March in El Medano on the canarian island Tenerife  was held the first stage of the Championships, with 3 completed races.

The event which was organized by local Luca Orsi, thanks to the support of his school ORSI windsurfing Centre and CLUB WINDSURFING 77, were able to complete 3 tests in over 20 knots of wind, so absolutely perfect for the weekend!  Over 25 participants from around the canarian islands were racing in the slalom catagory, and also a smaller fleet of freerider’s.

The downwind course was choppy and in parts wave, whish is classic for the canarian conditions and was extremely entertaining for the crowd to follow from land.  The final results was lead up by a group of Italians: in Slalom in first place  Andrea Cucchi (Point-7\Starboard), followed by John Benematti (Tabou \North), and in third place the event organizer Luke Orsi (Starboard\Secret). In the category Freeride the winner was Andrea Palazzo, followed by Alberto and Enzo Esposito.  Next stop on the racing calender; Fuerteventura.
